When we think about breast cancer, we often conjure up images of women over the age of 50 with bald heads. We also think about 5k walks, pink ribbons, charity fund raisers, and t-shirts with funny printed sayings. What we sometimes fail to think about are all the other people affected by this disease.
I would like to share the story of my good friend who is in the midst of her fight and just posted a very raw update to create awareness this month in honor of October being BC awareness month. She is one of the reasons I’m passionate about this fight for a cure. She is very transparent about her diagnosis every step of the way, as she fights for her life. I won’t share the photo she included posted post-mastectomy, but she asks that we share her message. Here is her post:
Up until 10 years ago, October was just another month on the calendar. Then, we welcomed our first daughter, Sloane, into the world on October 16th 2007. My mom who had been teaching Special Education for 35 years decided the time was right to retire and help my wife and I take care of our daughter. It was a decision that she claims was the best thing she ever did.
In our industry, we often must look at new ways to provide our services. We are challenged every day to find creative solutions for our clients. How do we determine the right solution? The answer to this question is easy: Get to know you customer!
The other day I was introduced to a potential client, he asked “What business are you in?”
I replied, “Promotional Products/Corporate Branding.” His response to this was, “Oh, you mean trinkets and trash?” I was stunned! I thought that reputation title was history!
Forty years ago, when I started in this industry, the industry had been labeled “trinkets and trash,” along with other names. At that time, it didn’t bother me as much. However, the promotional marketing industry has changed so dramatically, that it blows my mind how far we’ve come.
This industry has taught me that Promotional Products are an integral part of a company’s overall marketing plan and is a solution. These solutions can provide unique and lasting brand impressions that far outlast many conventional advertising mediums.
Are you having trouble attracting and retaining top talent? Have you lost a prospective employee to a competitor? We understand your frustration and may have a solution.
In homage to Father’s Day, I wanted to share some insights I have learned when it comes to working with family. For those who don’t know, Bradley Company was founded by my father, Steve Schwartz. In 2014, I joined the Bradley Team and we became business partners in the promotional products industry. Here are some successful tips I have observed in various workplaces when it came to family dynamics.
